Deniz Tek, Me and Paolo Gironi There's no better thing for a music fan than to get in touch with his/her music idol. That's what happened to me with Deniz Tek: even if I can't call it friendship, it's something very close. The first time I asked to take a picture with him was after a Deniz Tek Group gig in Rome. I never thought I could become promoter, sound engineer and photographer in his and Scott Morgan 's live album Three Assassins (Career records, 2004). Not to mention how much I've played his songs during my radio show. But the thing I like the most is to watch him onstage, just like it happened in Bologna, during the last gig of Radio Birdman's European tour . La cosa più bella che possa capitare nella vita di un appassionato di musica, è quella di entrare in relazione con uno dei propri idoli musicali. A me è successo con Deniz Tek e seppure non si possa parlare di amicizia nel vero senso della parola, di sicuro ci vado molto vicino per una serie di ragioni che non credo interessi a chi legge in questo momento. Nel momento in cui timidamente chiesi l’opportunità di scattare una foto al termine di un concerto romano del Deniz Tek Group nel 1995, mai avrei immaginato di ritrovarmi in seguito al suo fianco nel ruolo di promoter, ingegnere del suono e fotografo nell’album live “Three Assassins” (Career record, 2004) con Scott Morgan,  senza contare quante volte ho suonato per radio le sue canzoni, anche se il ruolo che preferisco è quello di ritrovarmi ai piedi del palco dove Deniz suona, nel semplice ruolo di fan come accaduto di recente nell’ultima tappa del tour europeo dei Radio Birdman .  Proprio a margine dell’ultimo incontro è

Deniz Tek in un momento del concerto Presente! Non potevo che rispondere così  all'ennesima chiamata dei Radio Birdman, giunti a Bologna per l'ultima tappa di un lungo tour europeo che ha raccolto unanimi consensi per Rob Younger e compagni. Ed  il lungo viaggio, perché la benedetta Calabria è lontanissima da ogni dove, ed un caldo asfissiante potevano lasciare, unita alla stanchezza della band (se ci fosse stata),  un ricordo di quelli da tenere presente magari in un angolo nascosto della memoria. Per fortuna i dubbi li fuga come sempre Deniz Tek che, appena incontrato, promette: <<faremo un grande show per te questa sera>>. Obbligo per cui sistemarsi in prima fila ed attendere che la promessa venga mantenuta.
