Not even Uffe Lorenzen could escape this, who, after his experience with Baby Woodrose, recorded three solo albums before returning to form this new band called Lydsyn. A classic power trio that includes his old friends Palle Demant (The Sledge) on bass, author of many of Uffe's videos, and Jens Eyde a drummer discovered while watching videos posted on the net. The confirmation came with the release of 'Silver & Black' (Golden Robot Records), the band's sixth album released last February ( review here ). An album where its author exorcised his personal vicissitudes, the lung cancer that struck him four years ago, the risk of dying and in the less inauspicious hypothesis, having to quit music forever. Then came the pandemic and the total paralysis of the music world, which undermined the certainties of everyone in the industry everywhere. The result was an album full of beautiful sounds and very deep in the themes dealt with in the lyrics, which went beyond the personal sphere and took on a broader scope.   Born after experience in various bands, the most important of which was that of The Fools , chosen by Radio Birdman as a backing band for their Australian concerts, at the time of the first reunion that led to the release of the album "Ritualism" (Crying Sun, 1996), Howlin' Threads settled into a trio line-up with Dylan Webster on guitar, Matt Houston on bass and Adam Fermo  on drums.   Twelve years between one record and another are definitely too many, even for a band like Hoodoo Gurus that has written indelible pages in the history of rock, in forty years of activity, even with a brief interlude of actual dissolution. Yet judging from what we hear in "Chariot of the Gods" , the time lapse that divides it from the excellent "Purity of Essence", the passage of time has not scratched the creative vein of Dave Faulkner and members who have returned with a record that is the sum of what was previously proposed. Opened by "Early Opener" a short intro in which the typical background of the voices of the patrons of a bar, you hear in the distance the same Faulkner singing on acoustic guitar the classic "Come Anytime" from the best seller "Magnum Cum Louder", before the tribal pace of the drums of Nick Reith introduces the real opening track that is "World of Pain" , a ballad mid-tempo gritty that imme

  Dodici anni tra un disco e l’altro sono decisamente troppi, anche per una band come gli Hoodoo Gurus che ha scritto pagine indelebili nella storia del rock, in quarant’anni di attività, seppure con una breve parentesi di scioglimento effettivo. Eppure a giudicare da quanto si ascolta in “Chariot of the Gods” il lasso temporale che lo divide dall’ottimo “Purity of Essence” il trascorrere del tempo non ha scalfito minimamente la vena creativa di Dave Faulkner e soci che si sono ripresentati con un disco che è la summa di quanto proposto in precedenza. Aperto da “Early Opener” un breve intro in cui dal sottofondo tipico del vociare tra gli avventori di un bar, si sente in lontananza lo stesso Faulkner cantare con la chitarra acustica la classicissima “Come Anytime” tratta dal best seller “Magnum Cum Louder” , prima che l’incedere tribale della batteria di Nick Reith introduca il vero brano d’apertura che è “World of Pain” , una ballata mid-tempo grintosa che mette subito in chiaro

  Una delle ultime uscite targate Area Pirata, riguarda il nuovo lavoro del trio bergamasco Le Muffe , che esce a ben cinque anni dal precedente “Fuoco e Fiamme”. Un lasso temporale che non ha scalfito l’interesse per la band capitanata da Gianluca “Ol Pjpa” Daghetti che continua a proporre un suono classico di garage beat, suonato quasi senza la presenza di chitarre, ma incentrato sulle linee musicali dell’organo che conducono le danze , nei dieci brani orchestrati insieme a Luca “Sick Boy” Togni al basso/cori e da Alberto “Bert” Capoferri alla batteria e cori. “Down Down Down” ripropone ancora una volta il perfetto mix tra la ritmica serrata, a tratti quasi di derivazione hardcore, e le melodie dia sapore retrò garage/beat sui quali vengono declamati testi a volte ironici, altre volte di denuncia sociale e cantate in lingue diverse (italiano/inglese e francese). Silver & Black  is Leadfinger 's sixth album, and it's a record that marks in an amazing way the rebirth of one of the best bands of Aussie-rock, which seriously risked to see its run ended, after Stewart Cunningham had to face a long fight against lung cancer, diagnosed in 2017 and that forced him to two long years of treatment marked by a slow and uncertain recovery. After this terrible period, the band (composed in addition to Cunningham, by Michael Boyle, Dillon Hicks and Adam Screen) has tried to resume the thread of the discourse interrupted by "Friday Night Heroes" among the many difficulties that have arisen with the pandemic of Covid-19 and the consequent long lockdown.
