There is something profoundly human about *The Beat*, something that goes beyond the music and beyond Deniz Tek ’s discography. It is an album that could never have come into being had it not been for this precise moment in his artistic life: a record built upon the drum tracks left behind by Ric Parnell , who passed away in May 2022, ten years earlier, during the sessions for *Mean Old Twister*.
