Radio Birdman’s comeback in Italy is an unmissable occasion to get again in touch with a legendary band that has a key role in the hsitory of australian rock. Three studio albums (Radios Appear, Living Eyes) published in different years (1977, 1981 e 2014), two Eps, a bunch of singles and three live records (Ritualism, Live in Texas and Live at Paddington Town Hall from 1977) show a way of intending rock’n’roll which combines the proto-punk fury of Stooges and Mc5 with the psychedelic sound of the Doors, therefore becoming a very unique experience in the aussie rock scene. In three years and a half, from the end of ’74 to the summer of ‘78, Radio Birdman have managed to acquire the status of prime movers in a scene which will evolve significantly in the next decade. Despite the hostility of the music industry, they have kept carrying on their DIY spirit, gaining consensus among the audience. Radio Birdman are to be certainly considered the most influential hi-energy-r’n’r australian rock band. Though not reaching Nick Cave’s or ACDC’s popularity, they have always covered primary role in the international scene as a cult punk rock outfit. Their influence in Italy, started upon the journalistic contribution by Federico Guglielmi, Luca Frazzi and Roberto Calabrò, constantly grew during the years inspiring bands ( Loose ), collective homages (the tribute album Where the Action Is ) and delighting thousands of fans. Two EPs, three studio albums, two lives and a bunch of singles as a result of a career, started with the 1974 rehearsals and culminated in the first reunion, in 1996 (as a result, their live recordings Ritualism and Live in Texas ); again in 2006, the issue of full-lenght recording Zeno Beach and the last rehearsal, under the name of Living Eyes . Deniz Tek, Me and Paolo Gironi There's no better thing for a music fan than to get in touch with his/her music idol. That's what happened to me with Deniz Tek: even if I can't call it friendship, it's something very close. The first time I asked to take a picture with him was after a Deniz Tek Group gig in Rome. I never thought I could become promoter, sound engineer and photographer in his and Scott Morgan 's live album Three Assassins (Career records, 2004). Not to mention how much I've played his songs during my radio show. But the thing I like the most is to watch him onstage, just like it happened in Bologna, during the last gig of Radio Birdman's European tour .
