Radio Birdman’s comeback in Italy is an unmissable occasion to get again in touch with a legendary band that has a key role in the hsitory of australian rock. Three studio albums (Radios Appear, Living Eyes) published in different years (1977, 1981 e 2014), two Eps, a bunch of singles and three live records (Ritualism, Live in Texas and Live at Paddington Town Hall from 1977) show a way of intending rock’n’roll which combines the proto-punk fury of Stooges and Mc5 with the psychedelic sound of the Doors, therefore becoming a very unique experience in the aussie rock scene. In three years and a half, from the end of ’74 to the summer of ‘78, Radio Birdman have managed to acquire the status of prime movers in a scene which will evolve significantly in the next decade.   There is something profoundly human about *The Beat*, something that goes beyond the music and beyond Deniz Tek ’s discography. It is an album that could never have come into being had it not been for this precise moment in his artistic life: a record built upon the drum tracks left behind by Ric Parnell , who passed away in May 2022, ten years earlier, during the sessions for *Mean Old Twister*. These were not takes intended to become an album. They were fragments, gestures, impulses. The sessions were recorded haphazardly, then set aside and forgotten.  english version here Esattamente 25 anni e un mese fa, mi apprestavo a vivere una giornata che sapevo essere importante per me e i tanti amici con cui ho sempre condiviso la passione per il rock, ma che mai mi sarei aspettato diventasse qualcosa di cui andare fiero per sempre. Due leggende del rock americano, arrivavano a suonare a un tiro di schioppo dalla mia Cosenza, in un concerto di cui avevo curato l’organizzazione. Tutto era iniziato un po’ di settimane prima quando l’amico fraterno di scorribande rock, Roberto Calabrò , su imput del compianto Romano Pasquini , mi prospettò l’opportunità di portare a casa nostra uno dei nostri idoli musicali assoluti: Deniz Tek dei Radio Birdman era in tour in giro per l’Europa insieme ad un’altra leggenda di Detroit come Scott Morgan (Rationals, Sonic’s Rendezvous Band, Hydromatics).
